Fugitive arrested after 26 years

NUWAKOT, April 26: A man convicted of human trafficking has been arrested 26 years after the court verdict. The police arrested Junga Bahadur Tamang (Ram) of Dupcheshwor rural municipality-4 who was convicted of trafficking a woman from Nepal to India.

NUWAKOT, April 26: A man convicted of human trafficking has been arrested 26 years after the court verdict. The police arrested Junga Bahadur Tamang (Ram) of Dupcheshwor rural municipality-4 who was convicted of trafficking a woman from Nepal to India. 


The Nuwakot police arrested him on Friday from Satbise of Tadi rural municipality-4 in the district.

According to the District Police Office's Chief Superintendent of Police, Shantiraj Koirala, Tamang was apprehended on tip-off. 


Tamang had been absconding since the court's verdict on February 2, 1999, when the Makwanpur District Court sentenced him to nine years, seven months, and ten days in prison for his involvement in the trafficking case. Following his arrest, Tamang has been sent to prison to serve the sentence.
