KATHMANDU, Nov 2: Nepali Congress youth leader Gagan Thapa has urged party president Sher Bahadur Deuba not to file his candidacy for the party chief in next general assembly meeting.
Speaking with Shree Ram Paudel for Nagarik Sambaad of Nagarik Network, he challenged Deuba to face the defeat if he files nomination again for the post.
“I would like to suggest him not to stand for the post again for the party and for himself as well”, said Thapa.

Talking about the upcoming Mahaa Samiti meeting of the party, Thapa said that the meeting will amend the party’s statute adopting the federal structure of the country and added that there is equal chance of party leadership to influence the party structure if it continues to nominate instead of electing the members following the amendment of the statute.
In another context, Thapa informed that he would raise the proposal of age barrier in the Mahaa Samiti meeting and urged the party leadership to agree on the age barrier of 30 for student leader, 40 for youth leader and 70 for the executive post of the party.
Thapa criticized the government for failing to meet the expectation of the people. “We thought that the two-third majority government would address the problem of the country but unfortunately it has failed.”
He stressed on the need of the structural reformation in the country for the economic growth and stability.
