Govt lawyers express concern over delay in appointment of  judges

KATHMANDU, July 12: The Government Attorney Society has expressed concern over the delay in appointing judges, saying that the posts of judges at the Supreme Court, high courts and district courts are vacant.

KATHMANDU, July 12: The Government Attorney Society has expressed concern over the delay in appointing judges, saying that the posts of justices at the Supreme Court, and judges at high courts and district courts are vacant.


Issuing a statement, the Government Attorney Society has also expressed its concern saying that the delay in the appointment of judges has affected the work of justice delivery. In a statement issued by Government Attorney Society President Lokraj Parajuli and Secretary Dinesh Prasad Ghimire, it has been mentioned that qualified persons should be appointed as judges.

"When the process of appointment of judges is halted, the work of justice delivery is affected and the right of the people to get speedy justice is violated," says the statement issued on Tuesday. While the appointment of judges is irregular, the skilled personnel have been deprived of opportunities due to the age limit.


The provision of appointing working judges, Nepal Judicial Service (Justice, Law and Government Attorney Group) Legal Practitioners, People who have continuously worked in the field of law and justice, to the Supreme Court, high courts and district courts has been mentioned in the constitution.


"Government Attorney Society expects that there will be proper representation of government lawyers in the appointment of judges in accordance with the essence and spirit of the Constitution while ensuring proper and fair representation from all sides."
