KATHMANDU, June 19: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has assured that the government has given top priority to prompt rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts in disaster-hit areas of the country.
During an inspection visit to the flood and landslide-hit areas in Sankhuwasabha on Monday, the prime minister said that the authorities concerned had already swung into action for the management of people affected by the disasters. He made such remarks while talking to media persons upon his arrival at Tumlingtar Airport.
During his visit, the prime minister pledged for restoring the damaged roadways and bridges and also assured of provisions for both temporary and permanent rehabilitation of the affected.

Prime Minister Dahal arrived at Tumlingtar on a helicopter along with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, Narayan Kaji Shrestha; Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Prakash Jwala; and Minister for Urban Development, Sita Gurung.
Lawmakers Deepak Khadka, Yogesh Kumar Bhattarai, Basanta Nembang and Koshi Province Assembly member Rajendra Karki were also in the disaster inspection team.
So far, one person has been confirmed dead and 21 people have gone missing in the district following the incidences of floods and landslides triggered by incessant rainfall on Saturday night.
In Chainpur municipality-4, the flood damaged the under-construction Super Hewa Hydropower Project. A total of 17 workers of the project are missing in the flood. Police said they have intensified a search operation to find the missing workers.
