NC requests govt to speed up rescue and relief efforts

KATHMANDU, July 17: The main opposition Nepali Congress has urged the government to provide relief materials to all of the victims of the floods and landslide triggered by the monsoon.

KATHMANDU, July 17: The main opposition Nepali Congress has urged the government to provide relief materials to all of the victims of the floods and landslide triggered by the monsoon.


It has accused the government of failing to play an effective role in dealing with the aftermath of floods and landslides that left thousands of people dead and injured.

Issuing a press release on Wednesday, it has also warned of the outbreak of epidemic diseases in the flood-hit areas.


NC has also requested the concerned bodies to provide necessary help and support to the flood victims.


The death toll from floods and landslides since Thursday has reached 78. Dozens of people are still missing.  According to the latest report by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA), 40 people have been injured in the monsoon-triggered floods and landslides. Similarly, they have displaced 17,420 people across the country. As many as 3,366 people have been rescued so far.
