KATHMANDU, June 29: Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Bishwa Prakash Sharma has claimed that Nepal cannot build the Kerung-Kathmandu railway on its own.

Speaking at a function in Kathmandu on Wednesday, Sharma claimed that Nepal could not build the Kerung-Kathmandu railway. He said that the people of Nuwakot and Rasuwa should be told the reality that the government cannot build it.

General Secretary Sharma said that Nepal should make a proposal to the neighboring countries - China and India - that Nepal could not build the Kerung-Kathmandu railway but wanted to lease the road and take the project forward.

As Nepal is a poor country, China and India should be told to provide roads for trade between the two countries, he said. He said that Nepal should focus on building a Mechi-Mahakali railway on concessional loan and also by investing its own money.

General Secretary Sharma said that although the pre-feasibility study of the Kerung-Kathmandu railway is underway, there is no basis as to where the train will come from or not. Stating that Nepal could not manage a single international airport, he said that it was wrong to try to build four international airports at the same time.

General Secretary Sharma said that the MCC was affected by misinformation. He said that misinformation should not be disseminated as the people are getting angry due to the misinformation given by those sitting in the Cabinet.
