HETAUDA, Dec 14: The main opposition Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has claimed that the government could be tacitly supporting the pro-monarchy protests that have surfaced in recent weeks across the country.
"It seems Prime Minister KP Oli himself is standing together with those who are staging demonstrations demanding the restoration of monarchy. Otherwise, how come they are taking to the streets now?" Deuba said, addressing a mass demonstration against the government organized by his party in Hetauda on Monday.
Deuba, who is also a former prime minister, ruled out the possibility of revival of monarchy. "There should not be any illusion at all. The monarchy is not going to be reinstated in the country," he said.

The NC president came down heavily upon the government for its “attempts to impose single-party totalitarianism in the country.”
He blamed the government for not working toward controlling growing cases of rape and corruption.
"The government is indulged in corruption even in course of dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic," he added.
The NC is staging demonstrations against the government in all 77 districts of the country throughout the day today.
Tens of thousands of cadres and well-wishers of the party are staging protest marches in many parts of the country and NC's top leaders are addressing the assemblies.
