KATHMANDU, May 15: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Monday filed a corruption case against Tapendra Bhattarai, a government official working at Nepalgunj branch of Department of Drug Administration.
Bhattarai was arrested by the CIAA officials while receiving bribe from service seekers promising to ease the process of providing papers to operate health clinic and medical store.
Govt employee arrested taking bribe
Acting on a tip-off that Bhattarai was seeking bribe to complete the procedures required to operate a health clinic and medical store in the district, a team of CIAA was mobilized to nab the official. Bhattarai was caught red handed while receiving Rs 50,000 as kickback when the CIAA team raided the office.
A charge sheet filed at the Special Court has sought fine equal to the bribe money and three
to four months of imprisonment.
