KATHMANDU, April 27; The government has recommended to the president to summon the budget session of the federal parliament on May 6. The session will discuss and endorse policy and programs of the government and announce budget for the next fiscal year.
A meeting of the cabinet on Friday decided to ask the president to summon the budget session next Sunday, said government spokesperson Gokul Baskota. The president shall summon the budget session of parliament on the recommendation of the government, according to the constitution.
Govt recommends budget session of federal parliament for May 17
The government should present the budget for the next fiscal year in parliament on May 29, which is the deadline specified in the constitution.
According to government sources President Bidya Bhandari will unveil policies and program of the government in parliament on May 15. The parliament will hold deliberations on the policy and program for a week before the budget.
Upon failing to endorse ordinance replacement bills from parliament within the deadline the government had issued three ordinances for the second time. President Bhandari issued ordinances to extend the term of the transitional justice mechanism, National Assembly Election and Medical Education Ordinance for the second time in two months. According to the constitution any ordinance will be invalid if replacement bill is not endorsed from the House within 60 days after the commencement of the House session. The government had prorogued the House session last month without endorsing the ordinance replacement bills.
