Gunjan, Atharva pair win boys doubles title

KATHMANDU, Feb 11: The Indian pair of Gunjan Jadhav and Atharva Sharma became champion of boys doubles event during the  Nepal ITF Junior U-18 Circuit-I Tennis Tournament defeating the Chinese pair of Pengyu Lu and Guangsen Wen in the title clash on Friday. In the final clash played at Satdobato Tennis Complex, Gunjan and Atharva overcame the challenge of Pengyu and Guangsen 6-4, 7-6.

KATHMANDU, Feb 11: The Indian pair of Gunjan Jadhav and Atharva Sharma became champion of boys doubles event during the Nepal ITF Junior U-18 Circuit-I Tennis Tournament defeating the Chinese pair of Pengyu Lu and Guangsen Wen in the title clash on Friday. In the final clash played at Satdobato Tennis Complex, Gunjan and Atharva overcame the challenge of Pengyu and Guangsen 6-4, 7-6. 



Similarly, the pair of Chunxii Guao of China and Thailand's Punin Kovapitukted lifted the girls doubles title defeating the Chinese pair of Na Dong and Mingalao Yang in straight sets of 6-2, 6-4. 



Meanwhile, the boys singles final of the tournament is set to be an all-Indian affair after Mritunjay Badola and Kabir Manrai of the country booked their places in the final. Mrityinjay and Kabir overcame Atharva Sharma and Piyush S Salekar with the scoreline of 6-4, 6-4 and 6-1, 6-1 in the last four clashes respectively.  



In the girls singles event, China's Mingqiao Yang and Vaidehi Chaudhari of India have reached the final defeating Shivani Swarup Ingle and Yujiao Che in the semifinals respectively. Mingqiao overcame Indian opponent Shivani 7-6, 6-1 while Vaidehi defeated China's Yujiao 6-1, 6-3. The final matches of the singles events will be held at Satdobato's tennis court on Saturday.
