Gurung elected as UML Chairperson of Gorkha

GORKHA, Jan 10: CPN-UML Gorkha has concluded its seventh district convention in Gorkha. Prem Gurung has been unanimously re-elected for a second term by the convention. Krishna Nepali and Kazi Ram Roka have been elected as District Committee Vice Chairperson and Secretary respectively.

GORKHA, Jan 10: CPN-UML Gorkha has concluded its seventh district convention in Gorkha. Prem Gurung has been unanimously re-elected for a second term by the convention. Krishna Nepali and Kazi Ram Roka have been elected as District Committee Vice Chairperson and Secretary respectively.


Suresh Babu Shrestha and Bishal Thapa won the election for two Deputy Secretaries. Another deputy secretary candidate was Rajan Gurung.

Although 63 members including the chairperson, vice-chairperson and secretary were unanimously elected, an election was held for the deputy secretary and some members. Election was held for 20 open category members, five indigenous members (male) and three oppressed members (male). Meanwhile, the convention has selected a 105-member district working committee.


UML District Secretary Kazi Ram Roka said that the new district committee was sworn in on Monday itself. UML central member Ram Sharan Basnet administered the oath of office to the new committee.


Secretary Roka said that the first meeting held on Monday thanked everyone who participated in the seventh district convention and worked to make it successful. The second meeting of the district committee will nominate some members. He said that the next meeting will be held on 17 and 18 January.
