A press release issued by Deepak Sharma, spokesperson for the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology on Wednesday, reads, "Action will be taken as per Section 14 of the National Medical Education Act against the colleges charging higher fees from the students in violation of the Commission's direction."

Although the ministry and the commission have urged the students not to pay the fees more than the determined rate by the Commission, the medical colleges have not allowed the students not paying the demanded fees to sit for examinations.
