KATHMANDU, March 10: Liam Neeson starrer blockbuster Hollywood film 'Ice Road 2' has been shot in Nepal. This week, the film team has returned to the US after completing a four-day long shoot in Kathmandu and Bhaktapur around Araniko Highway (Kodari).
According to the information provided by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, the film was shot on the Araniko Highway along with the heritage sites of Kathmandu and Bhaktapur, Thamel, Bhaktapur Bus Park etc.

Neeson, the main actor of the film, did not come to Nepal. Four or five other actors and technicians came for filming. According to the ministry, the film had received permission to shoot from March 4 to 10.
According to sources, the crew has concluded their shooting schedule and returned. The film also conducted shoots last month in Walhalla, Victoria, Australia, where a set resembling Nepal was constructed.
The main plot of the film is around Araniko Highway and Sindhupalchok. According to Variety magazine, this is the sequel of the 2021 hit film 'The Ice Road'. Liam Neeson plays the role of a truck driver and a rescuer in the film.
Amazon Prime has bought the international streaming rights of this film. According to Deadline Hollywood Magazine, at the recent Cannes Film Festival, Amazon signed an agreement to purchase the film for $17 million. Jonathan Hensley is the director of this film.
