KATHMANDU, March 19: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) has instructed the subordinate agencies to send the details of the licensed weapons in the country.
On Tuesday, MoHA instructed all the district administration offices (DAOs) to provide the details of the weapons that have been licensed so far within 24 hours.
EC seeks details of licensed weapons in all districts
On Monday, two persons were arrested with licensed weapons from the Supreme Court premises.
The Arms and Ammunition Act, 2019 has made provision for the possession of arms after obtaining approval from the local administration. Accordingly, the Ministry has sent a letter to provide the details of the licensed firearms.
According to the letter, information on people who have firearm licenses, what types of firearms and how many licenses have been issued, whether they've been renewed or not, if any of these firearms have been used improperly, and if any have been confiscated for unauthorized use, not renewing the license, or using them for the wrong purpose have to be provided within 24 hours of receiving the letter.
