India gifts Nepal 17 fire engines

KATHMANDU, Aug 24: The Government of India has gifted Nepal 17 fire engines.



Indian ambassador to Nepal Ranjit Rae handed over the keys of the fire tender machines to Minister for Federal Affairs and Local Development Hitraj Pandey amid a program in the Capital today.



Later on the occasion, Minister Pandey handed over a gifted fire engine to the Kathmandu Metropolitan City.



Addressing the event, Pandey said that the gifted fire engines would be of great help in controlling fires.



Likewise, Ambassador Rae also expressed the belief that the support would help minimize the damage caused by the incidents of fire. Out of the total 217 municipalities across the country, 71 have got 101 fire engines. Joint secretary of the ministry Gopi Krishna Khanal said that due process was underway to purchase more 34 fire engines. RSS
