"A sense of despondency was seen among the sports persons here in the district due to the lack of a stadium. Now the stadium is constructed. We can also organize big sports competitions by looking after and maintaining the stadium," Rai said, receiving the key. He said the DCC will establish coordination with the offices concerned for the maintenance of the stadium.

The then District Development Committee had bought land for the stadium 16 years back. The stadium has been constructed at an investment of Rs 140 million of the provincial government.

Chief District Officer Hari Prasad Ghimire said the residents and sportspersons of Bhojpur are motivated with the construction of an international-standard stadium with a seating capacity of around 5,000 spectators.
