KATHMANDU, March 29: Lawmaker Kantika Sejwal has demanded the government to increase the amount given for midday meals in schools.
The government is currently giving mid-day meals to children up to class 6. For this, the government provides Rs 20 per student per day in the Himalayan districts and Rs 15 rupees per day in the districts in hilly and Terai region for 180 days a year.

Sejwal, who hails from Jumla, demanded the government to increase the amount saying that the children will not get lunch with the money being allocated by the government. "Does Rs 20 and Rs 15 make children buy lunch or not?" she asked.
