KATHMANDU, March 12: The parliamentary party meeting of the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) has concluded without taking any significant decision.
The meeting held at the JSP’s parliamentary party office in Singha Durbar on Friday afternoon was scheduled to endorse the party’s statute. “However, the meeting failed to take any concrete decisions on the agenda,” said Ekbal Miya, a lawmaker representing the party.

According to Miya, the top leaders of the party briefed about their meeting with Prime Minister Oli on Thursday during the parliamentary party meeting. The leaders also informed the party lawmakers that they are also scheduled to hold a meeting with the top leadership of Nepali Congress later today.
Lawmaker Miya said the parliamentary party’s statute could not be endorsed from today’s meeting as it would still take time to finalize the draft. “The meeting also could not take any new decision regarding the election of the parliamentary party leader,” Miya told Republica over the phone.
The JSP, that holds 34 seats in the 275-member House of Representatives (HoR), is seen firm in its decision to join the government only after its key demands are met. One of the key demands of JSP include release of lawmaker Resham Chaudhary, who is currently in jail over the killing of police personnel in Kailali district.
The top brass have expedited their meetings with the leaders of other parties including the ruling CPN (UML), main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN (Maoist Center) amid the changing political context.
Leaders of the NC and JSP are scheduled to hold a meeting at 4PM later today. They had a meeting with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Thursday evening.
