Judge’s wife attempts self-immolation outside SC

KATHMANDU, Jan 14: Aarti Giri, the wife of district judge Bhuwan Giri, who was arrested in connection with a rape case, attempted self-immolation outside the Supreme Court (SC).

KATHMANDU, Jan 14: Aarti Giri, the wife of district judge Bhuwan Giri, who was arrested in connection with a rape case, attempted self-immolation outside the Supreme Court (SC).


On Sunday afternoon, she attempted self-immolation by pouring kerosene on her body and tried to set herself on fire outside the gate of the SC.

Spokesperson for the District Police Range Kathmandu, SP Kumod Dhungel, said that she was stopped by the police after she poured kerosene on her body.


Aarti has filed a complaint against her husband Bhuwan Giri, who is also a district court judge, on the charge of marital rape.
