Karnali Province reports 20 new cases of coronavirus, taking provincial tally to 671

SURKHET, June 9: Karnali Province on Tuesday reported 20 fresh cases of coronavirus, taking the provincial tally to 671.


According to the Social Development Ministry of the province, Salyan district witnessed 13 new COVID-19 cases while Surkhet and Jumla districts reported five and two new cases, respectively.

During the PCR tests conducted at labs at Karnali Provincial Hospital, Surkhet,  Kanali Academy of Health Sciences and Rapti Academy of Health Sciences, 20 new cases of coronavirus were detected, the ministry said.


According to Laxmi Narayan Tiwari, the chief of Health Services Division of the ministry, 12 males from ward 3,4,5 and 8 of Bangad Municipality, Salyan, tested positive for coronavirus. Likewise, a male from Kapurkot Rural Municipality of the same district also has been diagnosed with COVID-19.


One female and two males from Birendranagar Municipality-12, one female from Gurbhakot Municipality and one male from Simta Rural Municipality-6 have been infected by coronavirus. One female from Hima Rural Municipality-4 of Jumla and one male from Tila Rural Municipality-2 have also been diagnosed with the viral disease.


As of today, 11 COVID-19 patients in Karnali Province have been discharged after recovery. Likewise, the COVID-19 death toll in Karnali has climbed to three.
