KATHMANDU, April 27: The Kathmandu Valley, where lies the federal capital of the country, recorded 1,966 new cases of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the past 24 hours.
According to the latest data from the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), as many as 1,602 new cases in Kathmandu, 124 in Bhaktapur and 240 in Lalitpur districts were detected on Tuesday.

The number of people diagnosed with COVID-19 in the valley is rising sharply. The number of new cases in the valley was 1,912 on Monday and 1,498 on Sunday. The valley has recorded as many as 5,376 new cases of COVID-19 in the past three days alone.
Kathmandu is the district to record the highest of 1,602 new cases of COVID-19 in just 24 hours followed by Banke district with 515 new cases.
Likewise, there are 696 COVID-19 patients currently undergoing treatment in isolation centers in various hospitals in the valley. Similarly, as many as 112 COVID-19 patients are in ICU and 45 are on ventilators.
In the past 24 hours, 14,672 people went through PCR tests and 1,009 underwent antigen tests across the country. Of them, 4,524 tested positive for COVID-19.
