KMC removes 9,000 billboards that failed to meet standards set by the metropolis

KATHMANDU, Jan 26: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has said that 9,000 unauthorized hoardings and signboards have been removed so far.

KATHMANDU, Jan 26: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has said that 9,000 unauthorized hoardings and signboards have been removed so far. 


KMC has said that the boards and identification boards that have met standards but have not paid the fees and those which are larger than the specified size have been removed.

Earlier on September 23, the KMC had issued a 30-day public notice specifying the size and fee the owners of such hoarding and signboards required to pay to the metropolis. In the public notice, businessmen were requested to make sure that their hoarding and signboards meet the requisite standards and manage the boards that do not come within the standards.


According to the Financial Act of the metropolis 2079 BS, the annual fee for hoarding boards up to 6 square feet is Rs 500, while the fee for hoarding boards up to 15 square feet is Rs 1,500. An additional fee of Rs 1,000 per square foot of the area between 15 square feet and 30 square feet is to be paid to the metropolis.
