Lawmakers demand relief and rehabilitation for disaster survivors

KATHMANDU, August 8: Lawmakers have drawn the attention of the government towards providing decent relief and rehabilitation for survivors of flooding and landslides while criticizing the government's relief and rehabilitation efforts as unsatisfactory.

KATHMANDU, August 8: Lawmakers have drawn the attention of the government towards providing decent relief and rehabilitation for survivors of flooding and landslides while criticizing the government's relief and rehabilitation efforts as unsatisfactory. At the zero hours during the meeting of the House of Representatives today, they also suggested that the government should adopt preparedness to control flooding and landslips in Tarai-Madhes. Putting her view on the occasion, Laxmi Pariyar demanded assurance of peace and security and investigation into an accident wherein a Dalit youth was thrashed in an eastern district recently. Lawmaker Birodh Khatiwada demanded that the government focused on curbing the illegal supply of gold and maintaining its market price. Bodh Maya Yadav drew the attention of the Ministry of Agriculture towards the scarcity of fertilizers in Tarai-Madhes, where paddy plantation is ongoing. Likewise, Satya Narayan Sharma Poudel demanded the removal of the dual tax system for entering a local level from another one in East Nawalparasi district. Samina Hussain proposed a public holiday across the country on Bakra Eid. ---
