Lightning leaves 14 paddy planters injured in Chitwan

KATHMANDU, July 7: Lightning strike has injured 14 paddy planters at Kalika Municipality in Chitwan. 


The farmers, who were transplanting rice seedlings in the paddy field of Kamala BK, a local of Kalika-8, Majhuwa, on Wednesday had rushed to local Jantari Praja's house nearby for protection after the heavy rainfall.

Lightning strikes along with the windstorm and rainfall hit the planters leaving them injured around the same time, according to the District Police Office, Chitwan. 


Five among those injured are being treated at Bharatpur Hospital, while nine others returned home last night after treatment, police informed. 


Five of those injured are said to be in out-of-danger condition. 


Lightning occurred at around 6:00 PM on Wednesday.
