KATHMANDU, March 12: Despite an agreement reached between the government and the loan shark victims who came to Kathmandu after a 23-day walk, at least 200 of the latter are facing challenges in returning to their homes.
According to the Kisan Majdur Sangharsha Samiti, more than half of the 700 protesting victims had returned home by Tuesday.
However, the spokesperson for the Sangharsha Samiti, Nirga Nabin, stated that at least 200 individuals are stranded at Bhrikuti Mandap as they lack the financial means to cover bus fare and living expenses.

The government reached a four-point agreement with the loan shark victims at Singha Durbar on Monday night. As per the agreement, a new commission of inquiry will be formed, with recommendations to cancel illegal mortgage loans.
A few days ago, leaders from district and municipal levels returned home. Some activists returned to their villages with money acquired from selling paddy.
Most of those who hailed from the eastern Terai have already returned. However, the Sangharsha Samiti said that loan shark victims are facing difficulties in returning to the western region due to higher transportation costs. The activists are currently gathering details of those still in need of assistance.
