Lockdown extended in Kapilvastu for one more week

KAPILVASTU, Aug 16: The lockdown order enforced in Kapilvastu to curb  further spread of COVID-19 has been extended for one more week.

KAPILVASTU, Aug 16: The lockdown order enforced in Kapilvastu to curb  further spread of COVID-19 has been extended for one more week.


The local administration earlier had enforced lockdown till Sunday midnight. Keeping in view the rising cases of COVID-19 in the district, local administration has decided to extend the lockdown order until Aug 23.


As of Sunday, a total of 140 persons tested positive for the COVID-19 in the district are currently undergoing treatment in various isolation centers. Of the 140 COVID-19 patients, 108 are from Taulihawa-- the district headquarter of Kapilvastu.

According to Chief District Officer Dirga Narayan Poudel, the lockdown has been extended following the rise in the number of COVID-19 cases at community level in the district.


All but essential services have been suspended in the district.


The District COVID-19 Management Committee has decided to allow markets to remain open from 8 am to 10 am for the purchase of daily essentials.


The District Administration Office has also warned of strict punishment to those defying the lockdown order.
