RUKUM, Nov 19: A man in Rukum (West) reportedly shot his wife to death and also killed his son with a Khukuri knife on Saturday.
According to the District Police Office (DPO), Satta Bahadur Budha, 49, of Tribeni Rural Municipality murdered his wife Indrakala Budha, 42, and son Swayamprakash, 11, under the influence of alcohol.

DSP Sumit Khadka informed Republica that he fired a bullet at his wife and attacked his son with a Khukuri at around 2 pm on Saturday.
Satta Bahadur then tried to commit suicide by attacking himself with the same Khukuri.
As per the preliminary investigation of police, Satta Bahadur committed the crime under the influence of alcohol. Police arrested him along with a gun.
Locals speculate that the man must have taken the step due to mental stress. Ram Bikram BC, a local, said that Satta Bahadur had once disappeared in a jungle for five days. He was later brought home by his family members and was under treatment from Shamans. He was also taken to a hospital.
