KATHMANDU, Dec 23: A manpower entrepreneur faced assault within the premises of the Department of Foreign Employment (DoFE) as a woman returning from Kuwait for foreign employment physically attacked Nirmal Rai Amat, the director of KP International Overseas Manpower.

The woman had lodged a complaint at the DoFE, alleging fraud during her time in Kuwait. During discussions about the complaint, Amat, the manpower entrepreneur, was accused of fraud by the woman.

As the discussion unfolded, Amat was subjected to physical assault, beatings, and verbal abuse by the woman and others present, according to Rajendra Bhandari, President of the Nepal Association of Foreign Employment Agencies (NAFEA).

Bhandari expressed concern, stating that the woman had been brought to Nepal by a manpower entrepreneur at his own expense. He emphasized that while the discussion was ongoing at the DoFE, businessman Amat was assaulted.

NAFEA said it deems the incident serious and objectionable, pointing out the lack of action against those involved in such illegal activities within the DoFE. The NAFEA has called for strict measures against individuals engaging in unlawful acts.
