KATHMANDU, Feb 15: Mayanka Rana has become the first Nepali female tennis player in Nepal’s tennis history to reach the quarterfinals of the ongoing Nepal ITF Junior U-18 Tennis Tournament defeating Nepal’s Ira Rawat on Wednesday.
In girls’ singles, Rana beat Rawat 6-1, 6-2 to reach the last eight. Likewise, Japan’s Mio Kozaki saw off Mahika Rana 6-3, 6-1, India’s Hrudaya Shah overcame India’s Divya Vaani 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 and China’s Yiming Dang defeated Rutuja Chaphalkar of the United States of America (USA) 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (2).
Similarly, in other matches of the same category, India’s Prinkle Singh beat Japan’s Riko Kamikura 6-4, 6-2, while India’s Trisha Vinod secured berths in the next round on walk over rule.
Also, Hong Kong’s Chui Kei Leung defeated India’s Srinidhi Sirdhar 6-1, 6-2, while India’s Sanya Sing saw off India’s Archita Agrawal 7-5, 3-6, 6-3.

Likewise, in boys’ singles, a single standing Nepali player Pranav Khanal suffered a defeat against Japan’s Keiju Miyake 6-0, 6-0 and failed to make his way into the last eight round.
Likewise, Malaysia’s Jian Keong Takeshi Koey beat India’s Tarush Bagai 6-2, 6-0, India’s Aaryan Zaveri saw off India’s Anurag Agrawal 6-3, 6-3, Japan’s Daisuke Inagawa thumped India’s Prasanna Pravin Bagade 6-4, 6-0 and Korea’s Jiho Lee overcame China Taipei’s Chia-Fan Tsao 6-4, 6-1.
