“The new draft on media law is neither transparent nor open for discussion. This hints that the government is trying to limit access to government information,” said executive director of Freedom Forum, Taranath Dahal during an interaction program entitled Press Freedom and Freedom of Expression on Thursday.
“Investigative journalism has become increasingly difficult in Nepal with the commencement of the new criminal code which has provisions to punish journalists for investigative journalism,” said Babita Basnet, president of Media Advocacy Group.
