Media should be 'voice of voiceless', stresses Minister KC

BIRATNAGAR, Sep 29: Urban Development Minister Arjun Narsingh KC honoured Biratnagar-based journalist Ajit Tiwari with the 'Rama Prasad-Maya Devi Rijal Journalism Award', carrying a purse of Rs 11,111 amidst a program here today.

BIRATNAGAR, Sep 29: Urban Development Minister Arjun Narsingh KC honoured Biratnagar-based journalist Ajit Tiwari with the 'Rama Prasad-Maya Devi Rijal Journalism Award', carrying a purse of Rs 11,111 amidst a program here today. 


Tiwari is associated with the Nagarik National Daily.

On the occasion, the Minister said media which is supposed to be the 'voice of voiceless' should serve as a medium of communications between the government and people. 


Stating that Nepali Congress was committed to protecting and promoting press freedom, Minister KC who represents the Congress in the CPN (Maoist Center)-led coalition government assured of the effective implementation of minimum wages recommended for working journalists. 


He further insisted on a political understanding to hold the local poll by coming mid-April.
