Meeting of 10 parties today to reach consensus on vice president

KATHMANDU, March 16: A meeting of 10 parties including Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Center) and Janata Samajwadi Party will be held today. In the meeting held on Wednesday evening, a meeting was called for today as no agreement was reached regarding the official candidate of the vice president.

There are three candidates from ten parties for vice president. Although the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) was supposed to get the post of vice president, the Janmaat Party has registered the nomination of its leader Mamata Jha for the post. JSP has registered the nomination of Ramsahay Prasad Yadav and Pramila Kumari Yadav.  Astalaxmi  Shakya is a candidate from the CPN-UML.


In the meeting held on Wednesday, Chairman of Maoist Center and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, President of Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba and Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka, Chairman of CPN (Unified Socialist) Madhav Kumar Nepal, Chairman of JSP  Upendra Yadav, Chairman of Loktantrik Samajwadi Party (LSP) Mahanth Thakur,  Nepal Socialist Party head Dr Baburam Bhattarai, Nagarik Unmukti Party President Ranjita Shrestha, Janamat Party Chairman CK Raut and Aam Janata Party President Prabhu Shah were among the participants.
