Millennium Trek being revived

POKHARA, Dec 14: Efforts have been initiated to revive the Millennium Trekking Route when the trend of trekking routes shortening due to the construction of motorable roads has been increasing in various parts of the country in recent times.

POKHARA, Dec 14: Efforts have been initiated to revive the Millennium Trekking Route when the trend of trekking routes shortening due to the construction of motorable roads has been increasing in various parts of the country in recent times. 


The Millennium Trekking Route runs from Dulegaunda of Tanahu to Rambachha of Syangja district. This is around 72 kilometers long trekking route that traverses through the middle hills of Gandaki Province. 


Although this route was started in 2000 AD, giving it the name Millennium Trekking Route, it was not publicized and promoted much in the meantime due to political upheavals.

Millennium Trek Management Committee general-secretary Harka Gurung said this trekking route has much potentiality from the tourism point of view as it provides the trekker with an experience of adventure and glimpses of various cultures, natural beauty of Nepal’s mid-hills. 


The trekking route takes the traveler from an altitude of 420 meters to 1715 meters. 


Four resorts are being constructed at various places along the trekking route while there is a home-stay facility at 13 various places. 


Meanwhile, a trekking promotion programme along with journalists has been started from today with the objective of reviving the trekking route.
