Minor, abducted and raped, in critical condition

KAPILVASTU, June 2: A 14-year-old girl from Kapilvastu has been abducted and gang-raped by six youths of Kanchan village of Rupandehi.

KAPILVASTU, June 2: A 14-year-old girl from Kapilvastu has been abducted and gang-raped by six youths of Kanchan village of Rupandehi.


The minor from Banganga Municipality of Kapilvastu was forcibly taken on a motorcycle on Tuesday night and gang-raped. The youths have already been arrested by the police.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Jesse Shah, the arrested have been identified as Niraj Karki of Kanchan Rural Municipality-5, Rahul Sinjali and Sulabh KC of Ward No 4, Laxman Rasaili, Amit Kandel and Gaurav Thapa of Ward No 3.


Police said that the minor was abducted and raped while she was attending a cultural program in the local market. Gaurav Thapa, who was known to the minor, had forcefully taken her to Rudrapur on a motorcycle. According to Superintendent of Police Shah, he took her to a friend's house and he and his friends took turns on her. After that, the youths left her in front of her house at night.


Police arrested six accused youths upon learning of the incident. The victim underwent examination at Kapilvastu Hospital on Wednesday and the test report also showed she was raped.


Shah said that a case will be filed against the arrested youths after investigation of the incident. The health condition of the victim is critical. He said that the victim is  mentally disturbed and is not able to speak properly.
