JAJARKOT, Nov 27: Since 16 days, a one year child is at the District Police Office, Jajarkot with his mother. Bhawani Rana, who was arrested after being accused of killing her mother-in-law last year, was arrested by the police with her one year child.

After disagreements to split the 6000 rupees that they had earned by selling a water mill, Rana had hit her mother-in-law with a bottle that took her life. The child, who refuses to stay with anyone else but his mother, is forced to stay at the police office.

Local stakeholders have argued that the child’s stay at the police office was an infringement to child rights and that necessary arrangement should be made for the child.

Rana, arrested with her child, has been arrested for the murder and is being held at the district police office for the past 16 days.  However, her case is yet to be registered due to the ongoing elections. While no special arrangements had been made for the child, Bhawesh Rimal, DSP at the district police office said that he was allowed to bask in the sun, play around and stay with his mother.
