TIKAPUR, Dec 8 Gauri Lal Dhungana, who was on the run after killing his brother-in-law in Joshipur of Kailali, has surrendered himself to the police. According to the District Police Office, Kailali, Dhungana surrendered at the Bauniyan Area Police Office at around 1PM on Wednesday.

Spokesperson for the District Police Office, Kailali, Bed Joshi said that the incident is being investigated after taking the accused into custody. The 50-year-old Dhungana, also known as Kante, of Joshipur Rural Municipality-6, Kumaribagh, killed Padam Bhandari, 33, and injured Jairam Bhandari, 40, using a sharp object.

They are all residents of the same village. It is said that there was a verbal altercation between them over a personal matter of Dhungana while both the parties were drunk. Since Dhungana used to beat their sister too often, the Bhandari brothers were trying to remind him not to do so in the future.

Eyewitnesses said Dhungana threatened to kill the Bhandari brothers as they had heated disputes. After they told him to kill them if he could, Dhungana brought Khukuri from his house and attacked them indiscriminately. Locals said that Dhungana also pelted stones at both of them.
