NAC’s aircraft leaving for China to bring COVID-19 vaccines

KATHMANDU, July 8: A Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) aircraft is leaving for China to bring COVID-19 vaccines today.


The widebody aircraft is scheduled to fly to the destination three times to ship all the ‘Vero Cell’ vaccines purchased from the Chinese government. The first shipment is expected to arrive on Friday.

Similarly, the airline company is scheduled to send its aircraft on July 15 and July 22. Both the aircraft will return the next day with COVID-19 vaccines.  


The Nepali government purchased the vaccines through government-to-government channels. So far, Nepal has received 4,248,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine from its neighboring countries. The Ministry of Health and Population has decided to take continuous initiatives with countries and manufacturing companies, producing vaccines to make them available for every Nepali citizen.


According to the Ministry of Health and Population, as many as 2 to 3 million doses of vaccine are expected to arrive in the round of the delivery.
