KATHMANDU, Dec 20: The National Assembly meeting, which was called for today, has been postponed following the obstructions of the lawmakers belonging to the main opposition party, CPN-UML. The meeting was called off by National Assembly Chairman Ganesh Prasad Timalsina shortly after the UML lawmakers started creating obstructions in the meeting.
Prior to the start of the meeting, UML lawmaker Devendra Dahal said that the house sessions will not be allowed to continue unless the demands raised by the party are addressed. He also claimed that the government is unwilling to hold dialogues with the UML.

Dahal reiterated that they would not allow the house sessions to function unless actions are taken against the 14 lawmakers who were sacked by the party.
On the occasion, Chairman Timalsina repeatedly urged the UML to allow the meeting to go smoothly in order to move the country forward. He also argued that the main opposition party should help run the House smoothly in order to move forward important bills, develop the country and discuss issues related to the country’s overall economy.
The UML lawmakers, however, paid no heed to his statements. The government’s plan to present the annual reports of the National Dalit Commission for the fiscal years 2076/077 and 2077/078 in the house was affected due to the obstruction.
