KATHMANDU, June 4: The next meeting of the National Assembly has been called for Monday afternoon.
The meeting will be held at 1:01 pm on Monday after the meeting held on Sunday was adjourned following the protest of lawmakers belonging to CPN-UML. National Assembly Chairman Ganesh Timilsina called the meeting for Monday after adjourning the meeting for 29 minutes following the protests of the UML lawmakers.
The National Assembly meeting on Sunday before the adjournment passed a condolence motion expressing grief over the death of former MP Mina Pandey. A minute's silence was also observed in the meeting to mourn her death.

The UML obstructed the meeting of the National Assembly, protesting against the move of President Ram Chandra Paudel to certify the Citizenship Amendment Bill.
Soon after the commencement of the National Assembly meeting, UML lawmakers stood from their seats and obstructed the proceedings of the meeting, objecting over the President's move to certify the Citizenship Amendment Bill.
UML lawmaker Bhairab Sundar Shrestha demanded a correction of the President's move to certify the Bill without the current parliament's deliberation on it. “The President has given his assent to the Bill. The CPN-UML is clear in its view that the Nepali citizenship should be granted to a bona fide Nepali citizen on the basis of descent, but sending the Bill to the President for his assent through a cabinet decision and bypassing the sovereign parliament is objectionable, non-democratic and unconstitutional,” he argued.
Shrestha also took exception to what he called the Prime Minister Dahal making a statement in a foreign land that the country's territories could be exchanged to resolve border disputes. The UML lawmakers demanded an answer from the government on this as well.
