KATHMANDU, July 17: The main opposition Nepali Congress has announced fresh protests against the KP Sharma Oli-led government. Issuing a press statement by party general secretary Shashanka Koirala on Tuesday, the party has decided to organize a protest rally at all district headquarters on July 31 against the incumbent government accusing it of endorsing policies against public sentiments.
The party has urged the local people and party cadres as well members of sister organizations to participate in the protest program against the autocratic activities of the incumbent government.

Likewise, the party has criticized the government and Nepal Communist Party (NCP) for breaching the constitutional provision that has concept of electing speaker and deputy-speaker of federal parliament from two different parties. The party has accused the government to exercise the power in the central against the spirit of federalism, unnecessary interference in the independent judiciary and bypassing the officials from constitutional bodies among others.
The party has claimed that the step carried by the government to withdraw and scrap all the decisions made by the preceding government is against the public mandate. The party has shown its concerns over the decision made by the government to defer the medical bill and the consequences created following the strike by Dr Govinda KC.
