UDAYAPUR, Nov 26: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Dr. Narayan Khadka, an alliance candidate in Udayapur 1 is taking a lead against his rivals as the vote counting continues.
According to the vote results till 1 pm on Saturday, Khadka, who is also a Central Working Committee (CWC) member of the NC and the incumbent Foreign Minister, is ahead of the CPN-UML candidate with almost 2,000 more votes.

According to the Chief Electoral Officer's office, Khadka got 24,133 votes while his nearest rival Manju Kumari Chaudhary of UML got 22,320 votes. A total of 58,231 of the total 76,309 votes cast have been counted so far.
Khadka has received 1,813 votes more than Chaudhary.
Votes cast under the Proportional Representation (PR) electoral system to both the seats of the federal and all four seats of the Province Assembly are being counted. UML is leading by getting 19,193 votes in proportional votes as counting is underway in Udayapur district.
The NC has so far received 15,332 PR votes while Maoist is in third place with 6,931 votes. A total of 60,551 votes were cast under the PR electoral system.
