NC 14th General Convention: Deuba takes the lead as vote count continues for party president

KATHMANDU, Dec 14: The counting of votes for the election of the new leadership of the Nepali Congress is currently underway. Presidential candidate Sher Bahadur Deuba has taken the lead with 1059 votes as a total of 2206 votes are counted

KATHMANDU, Dec 14: The counting of votes for the election of the new leadership of the Nepali Congress is currently underway. Presidential candidate Sher Bahadur Deuba has taken the lead with 1059 votes as a total of 2206 votes are counted.


According to the latest information, Deuba's nearest rival Dr. Shekhar Koirala has got 793 followed by Prakash Man Singh with 205. Similarly, Bimalendra Nidhi got 174 votes while Kalyan Gurung got 10 votes.

The voting for the party’s president started at 1 PM on Monday. A total of 4,679 votes were cast while 64 were not present in the election.


The counting of votes for the party president started at 4 AM on Tuesday. The polling time had been extended twice till 10:30 PM yesterday as all voters could not cast their votes by 9 PM.
