BHARATPUR, Jan 4: Senior leader of the main opposition Nepali Congress, Ramchandra Poudel, said that the recent decision in the party must be corrected.

Talking to media persons at Bharatpur airport on Saturday, Poudel said he had not accepted the work style of party President. "The issues I raised for consensus must be addressed which is sure to pave way for unity in the party," he reiterated.

Speaking further, he accused party President Sher Bahadur Deuba of acting one-sidedly.

The NC has announced the date for its 14th general convention by extending the term of existing-working committee amidst boycott by the Poudel faction, which as a result, has widened the rift in the party.

Senior leader Poudel further said "There are problems in the party. I had presented a nine-point agenda for addressing the problems being surfaced in the party. But discussion eluded and the decision was without incorporating dissident voices."

He, however, said the disputes enliven the party. He also argued that he is in a mission to restore the party as a centre of trust. The cadres and leaders seek options to make the party stronger.

On the occasion, he also admitted that NC has failed to play an effective role of opposition.
