Nepal condemns terrorist attack at Afghan hotel

KATHMANDU, Jan 23: Nepal has condemned Saturday's terrorist attack at a hotel in Kabul, the capital city of Afghanistan, that claimed the lives of at least 18 people and injured several other innocent persons.

KATHMANDU, Jan 23: Nepal has condemned Saturday's terrorist attack at a hotel in Kabul, the capital city of Afghanistan, that claimed the lives of at least 18 people and injured several other innocent persons. 


Issuing a press statement on Monday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said that the government of Nepal condemns the brutal and senseless attack at a hotel in Kabul. 

“While wishing for early recovery of those injured, Nepal hopes that the perpetrators of this heinous act will be brought to justice,” said the statement.

The Government of Nepal has also extended heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the governments and peoples of the nations whose citizens lost their lives in the attack. More than 150 people were rescued or managed to escape the attack at Kabul's Intercontinental Hotel, according to international media reports. 


Reports said 11 of the 14 foreigners killed were employees of KamAir, a private Afghan airline. Those killed included two Venezuelans, six Ukrainians and a citizen from Kazakhstan.
