KATHMANDU, Oct 24: Nepal Police Canine Division organized a special function to mark ‘Kukur Tihar’ on the occasion of Tihar festival on Monday.
During the function, dogs were offered garlands, vermillion powder, and delicious foods to thank them for their role in the investigation. Similarly, various games and skills were shown by police dogs amidst the program.

Today, Kukur Tihar, the festival of dogs, is being celebrated in every household. Kukur Tihar is often observed on the second day of Yamapanchak of the Tihar festival. However, this year Laxmi Puja and Kukur Tihar have fallen on the same day.
Dog, which is said to have accompanied Dharmaraj Yudhisthir on his journey to heaven in the mythological grand epic Mahabharat, has a close relationship with mankind.
