Nepal recorded 1,228 new cases of coronavirus in past 24 hours, taking country's national COVID-19 tally to 42,877

KATHMANDU, Sept 3: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) said on Thursday afternoon that 1,228 more persons tested positive for coronavirus in various parts of the country in the past 24 hours, taking Nepal's national coronavirus tally to 42,877.

KATHMANDU, Sept 3: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) said on Thursday afternoon that 1,228 more persons tested positive for coronavirus in various parts of the country in the past 24 hours, taking Nepal's national coronavirus tally to 42,877.


At a virtual press briefing, Jageshwar Gautam, the spokesperson for the MoHP, said that 834 males and 394 females were diagnosed with the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) across the country in the past 24 hours.

"With this figure, Nepal's coronavirus tally has risen to 42,877," Gautam said.


At least 445 new cases of COVID-19 were detected in the Kathmandu Valley alone in the past 24 hours.  


Meanwhile, as many as 917 more COVID-19 patients were discharged after recovery across the country in the past 24 hours. "As of today, the country's COVID-19 recovery tally has reached 24,207," Spokesperson Gautam said.


There are currently 18,413 active cases of coronavirus in the country, according to him.


At least six deaths attributed to the coronavirus infection were recorded in the past 24 hours, taking the country's COVID-19 death toll to 257, Spokesperson Gautam said.
