KATHMANDU, August 25: Former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, who applied for the registration of his new party CPN (Unified Socialist), has reached the Election Commission (EC) for the verification process. Nepal is accompanied by some lawmakers close to him.
The EC has rescheduled the time from 11:30AM to 2PM for the verification. According to the new ordinance for party split, the support of at least 20 percent of the members of the central committee or the parliamentary party is a must for a party to split.

Elected leaders are trying to gather 20 percent members in the central committee for the registration of the CPN (Unified Socialist). Earlier, As many as 57 members out of 203 members committee had signed the request letter for the registration of the new party.
Meanwhile, Mahantha Thakur among other leaders, has also reached the EC for the verification. Earlier, Thakur had filed an application at EC to register the Democratic Socialist Party.
