NEPSE drops 5.31 points; daily turnover further declines to Rs 3.21 billion

KATHMANDU, Feb 4: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Sunday declined 5.31 points to close at 2,061.70 points.


The market opened at 2,067.01 points and plunged to the day’s low at 2,054.15 points in the first 23 minutes of trading. The market reached as high as 2,072.9 points in the next one hour, while it shed around 11 points in the remaining trading hours.

The sensitive index that measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies decreased marginally by 0.60 points. The daily turnover declined to Rs 3.21 billion from Rs 4.18 billion on Thursday.


Four out of the 13 trading groups, including non-life insurance, development banks, finance and investment gained in the intraday transaction. Of the losers, life insurance lost 57.46 points, the largest of all.


Among individual companies, 132 were recorded as losers whereas 104 were the gainers.


Himalayan Reinsurance Limited with turnover of its shares worth Rs 335.83 million topped the segment. Mahila Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited lost the highest of 5.37 percent of its market value. Unique Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited gained 10 percent, the largest of all.
