KATHMANDU, Sept 21: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Thursday increased a notable 44.34 points to close at 2,029.78 points.
The secondary market opened at 1,985.43 points and peaked to 2,028.39 points in the first eight minutes of trading. Within the next few minutes, the market however lost around 22 points. In the remaining trading hours, the index continuously surged to hit the day’s high at 2,040.28 points when the market was left with 50 minutes for trading. Finally the market closed shedding around 11 points in the remaining trading period.

In intraday trading, the sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies also increased 7.55 points. The daily turnover surged nearly three-fold to Rs 3.293 billion from Rs 1.176 billion on Tuesday.
All the 13 trading groups added values to their market prices. While non-life insurance added 186.99 points, it was followed by life-insurance, manufacturing and processing, development bank and hydropower in terms of the three-digit points’ gainers.
Among individual companies, the market values of 217 companies escalated while 12 companies posted losses in their indices.
Sun Nepal Life Insurance Company Limited, with a turnover of Rs 201.83 million, topped in terms of transaction volume. With an increase of 10 percent in the market value, National Hydro Power Company Limited was the biggest gainer. Similarly, NIBL Growth Fund lost 4.07 percent in its market value and was marked the biggest loser.
