KATHMANDU, Aug 10: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Thursday increased marginally by 5.13 points to close at 2,066.05 points.
The secondary market which opened at 2,060.91 points, added five points in the first five minutes of trading and then dropped to the day’s low at 2,046.07 points in the next 15 minutes. The market fluctuated for the next two hours, while it moved upward to hit the day’s high at 2,080.52 points in the next one hour. The index however slid by 17 points in the remaining hours before the market closed for the day.

Along with the overall index, the sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies added 1.10 points. The daily turnover inclined to Rs 2.156 billion from Rs 1.888 billion Wednesday.
Five out of 13 trading groups including development bank, life insurance, finance, microfinance and banking, were successful in raising the market values of their shares. Of the gainers, hotels and tourism, and non-life insurance gained the highest of 148.91 points and 135.21 points, respectively.
Among individual companies, the market values of 105 companies inclined up. A total of 108 companies were recorded as losers.
Soaltee Hotel Limited, with a turnover of its shares worth Rs 169.58 million, topped in terms of transaction volume. Aviyan Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited was the topmost gainer, while Himalayan Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited lost the highest of 6.53 percent of its market price.
